Rebuild a farm, hire workers, grow crops, and earn gold!
Heljarchen Farm is a player-owned farm that allows you to rebuild a once-abandoned property into a functional farming business. Restoring the farm to its former glory will reward the player with income every day and the ability to harvest crops grown on the farm fields. The farm can even be upgraded further with the construction of a small meadery and guardhouse, allowing you to earn gold from a meadery operation, with guards protecting your goods against thieves.
As the name suggests, the farm is located within The Pale next to Heljarchen Hall and the Loreius Farm.
Cleaned with TES5 Edit.
Features
Construction
Collect materials gathered in the province of Skyrim to repair a derelict farm, or hire construction workers to do the job for you.
Grow plants and crops
Use the farmyard to grow food for your travels. This can be useful for Realistic Needs and Diseases users that want their own farm as a source for food. A repaired meadery meanwhile can provide a nice source for your own brewed mead as well.
Earn gold
Your farm and meadery isn’t just a source of food and ale. Every day at 8:00 AM you will be able to collect the farms earnings, providing you a nice amount of gold to help with your adventures in Skyrim.
Banners
Proudly show your affiliation with the Stormcloaks or Imperials around the farm, or fly a more simple banner around your farm for decoration.
Exterior Lighting
No need to be afraid of the dark. Walk up to one of the light posts outside the farm to turn on or turn off your farms lanterns to illuminate the property for the night.
Compatibility and Requirements
Requires the latest version of Skyrim as well as the Hearthfire DLC.
Furthermore, this mod will not be compatible with any mod that alters the cell it is located in (the cell next to the Loreius farm and Heljarchen Hall). Because of this, it will also not work well with any mod that makes drastic changes to the Skyrim landscape such as Seasons of Skyrim, Tropical Skyrim, etc.
It also makes some very minor additions to a few inns across Skyrim (pamphlets posted inside inns advertising the sale of the farm), and a vendor inside the Drunken Huntsman who sells the deed to the farm.
If you use Heljarchen Hall Reform by deal5, there will be landscape issues. However, a compatibility patch has been made by Luckysneak which allows these two mods to work with one another.
RECCOMENDATION: I highly recommend using More plants and recipes by numberland in conjunction with this one. Hearthfire will not allow you to grow things such as tomato plants, juniper trees, apple trees, etc. His/her mod will allow you to do so, a nice addition.
IMPORTANT information regarding the optional file: Due to requests, I have uploaded an alternate version of the mod that includes a few additional rooms inside the cellar for housing a spouse and adopted children. HOWEVER, as a compromise, I have not implemented proper support to move your family properly. A mod such as Custom Family Home will be required to do this. To use the optional file, you will need the latest mainfile as well. Once both the mainfile and optional file have been installed, you must set the Heljarchen Farm Additional Family Room ESP to load after the main one in order to function correctly.
Known Issues
Floating grass
Some people have reported floating grass around the farm area. If this is happening to you, follow this guide at the Creation Kit Wiki:
Floating Grass Fix
Farm Income
For v1.45 and later:
1. Gold sometimes doesn’t accumulate. This is generally caused whenever you use the ‘wait’ or ‘sleep’ feature through the time where gold and items are added to the chests (8:00 AM In-Game). However, playing through this time normally will add gold and items to the chests as normal.
2. Clicking ‘Start Income’ repeatedly continually adds gold and items to the chests. Just don’t do dat, aight? Click it once, leave it alone.
For v1.4 and older:
There have been some reports of the income script not functioning properly, namely some players unable to collect gold earned from the farm. After some testing (Thanks jjb54) it is recommended that you do the following: 1. Back up your saves and make a clean save before installing this mod and repairing the farm (This should be performed whenever installing a new mod for your game). 2. Wait 8-12 in-game Skyrim hours after hiring workers before initializing the income script. 3. Take note of the coin sacks and gold coins around the business ledger. If they do not appear, gold income is not available yet. As a general rule, the coin purses on the lower left of the table indicate farm income. The bottom right indicates meadery income, and the top left portion of the table indicates bonus gold income.
Furthermore, with update 1.35 I included an additional menu in the business ledger. If you return to the farm 5 days later and see gold coin purses on the table but cannot collect income, use the debug menu to see if it solves the problem. If gold cannot be collected but coin purses are visible on the table, select whichever portion of the income script you are having trouble with in the debug menu, then try to collect gold again. For example, if you are unable to collect farm income: Go to the debug menu and select the “Disable Farm Buffer” option. Return to the earnings menu and select farm earnings again to hopefully collect the gold.
