Tips from an old client (Dark Brotherhood tie-in)
During the quest Mourning Never Comes, you can obtain two vials of poison from Muiri. This poison has been renamed to Black Lotus Poison and has a new, unique effect. Black Lotus Poison is a deadly, slow-acting poison made from extract of black lotus.

Other than this one quest, the only way to obtain this special poison was to pick up the two additional vials located in Dawnstar Sanctuary. Now, once you have completed the job during Mourning Never Comes, you will get the option to ask Muiri to teach you how to make Black Lotus Poison. Depending on her disposition with you, she may need some convincing to get her to reveal the secret. Please enjoy the fully-immersive, voice acted dialogue.

Expert secrets of poison making
Zaria, the Redguard alchemist from Falkreath, has a keen interest in poisons. Perhaps she can give you some insight into advanced poison making techniques. Show Zaria a vial of Black Lotus Extract to begin a mini-quest in which you can eventually learn a new recipe for creating the deadly Black Lotus Poison. This does not require completion of any Dark Brotherhood quests.

New, rare alchemy ingredient
Black lotus extract is a new, rare alchemy ingredient sold by Khajiit caravans. It can be used in alchemy just like any other ingredient. It is also a necessary component for creating Black Lotus Poison. Once you learn one of the recipes for making the poison and have the necessary ingredients, it can be crafted at a cooking pot. If you are using CACO, the poison is crafted using an Alchemist’s Retort instead. Make sure you get the compatibility patch from the files tab.

Requirements
Requires Skyrim only. No DLC needed.

Compatibility
A compatibility patch is available for Complete Alchemy and Cooking Overhaul. This brings the ingredient effects of Black Lotus Extract in line with CACO’s changes. In addition, Black Lotus Poison is crafted using using the Alchemist’s Retort from CACO instead of the vanilla cooking pot.

This mod places an animal cage behind Grave Concoctions in Falkreath. There might be some clipping issues with mods that alter Falkreath. A compatibility patch is available for Expanded Towns and Cities.

You should be able to use TES5Edit to merge Lotus Poison with most other plugins without issues. You will need the Merge Plugins xEdit Script. Please familiarize yourself with this process so you know what you are doing. I take no responsibility for you handling this incorrectly.

Installation
To install, I recommend using Mod Organizer or Nexus Mod Manager. To install manually, extract the contents of the 7z file into your Skyrim/Data folder.

To avoid any potential conflicts with other mods, use TES5Edit to create a merged patch, and use Wrye Bash to create a bashed patch. Creating these patches is essentially mandatory for Skyrim modding unless you have a very minimal load order.
