Rent My House – A Landlord Mod

Put your unused houses to work by renting them out!

The five original houses can each be rented out once they’re fully furnished (Hearthfire’s children’s bedrooms are optional). Tell the local steward that you want to rent out your house and they’ll handle the rest, finding tenants and collecting the rent once a week. You can pick up your payments from the steward directly or, if you have Imperial Mail installed*, it will be paid directly into your savings account. If you want to move back in yourself, just tell the steward to stop renting it out.

The rent you will receive is set to 2% of the total value of the house plus furnishings per week. If you want to change the percentage rate, you can use the following console command:
set nh_RMH_RentPercentage to
e.g. set nh_RMH_RentPercentage to 10 will set rent at 10% of the total value.

Houses are inaccessible whilst they’re being rented. To avoid potential conflicts with follower mods, this mod doesn’t touch housecarls. If you don’t want to trap one in a rented house, you need to move their default location to somewhere else using a mod like Volek’s My Home Is Your Home. You can just leave them in there if you like, though; it won’t do any harm!

* The mod only checks if Imperial Mail is active when it loads for the first time. If you want to use the savings account option, you must either (a) have IM already active in your load order, or (b) activate it at the same time as this mod.

Compatibility
If you’re using a mod that changes the furnishings in any of the five houses, the basic rule is: if you still need to use all the steward dialogue options to enable those furnishings, you should be able to rent out that house. Bethesda made the setup for those houses really simple, so I can’t imagine that many mods wouldn’t be using the vanilla system.

This mod doesn’t make any direct changes to the houses or stewards, so the worst possible conflict senario is that you won’t get the steward dialogue to rent out a modded house. That really is as bad as it can get. 🙂

Requirements
Hearthfire DLC (because of the children’s bedroom options)
