Stones of Barenziah Whereabouts
This mod simply adds a nicely written book to the game giving out the locations of the Stones of Barenziah!
What’s the point of this mod ?
Stones of Barenziah in vanilla are supposed to be something that you keep an eye out for while going here and there in the world. But due to the plethora of places in Skyrim, it’s almost impossible to go out on a journey searching for them place by place.
Some players resort to mods that add map markers leading directly to the locations of the stones. I personally don’t like this approach as it’s not fun at all to play fetch the stones (which is why I mostly don’t use quest markers at all).
This mod however, makes another approach. This mod adds a purchasable book to the game, the book contains the locations of the stones, there are 2 versions of these books :
Normal straightforward version : Simply gives out the place and the directions to find the stone, you still have to do a bit of searching by yourself (unlike a marker).
Puzzled version : This version doesn’t give the exact location and how to find the stone, but instead gives a puzzle that hints to the location and directions on how and where to find the stone. I tried to make this version lore-friendly, so the book blends in nicely with idea of an old mysterious treasure book.
Usage :
Both versions of the book are available to buy from Urag gro-Shub the librarian. You’ll find it in his inventory by the name of “The legend of the stones”, you can buy with modest fee of about 1000 Septims (I’m pretty sure you can handle the price :D)
Some hints :
The first paragraph in the puzzle is about the location, the place where the stone is located. The second paragraph is about the directions on how to find the puzzle in the location.
Pay attention to the details of the puzzle, a single word can make a huge difference in finding the stone successfully or not.
To ease the task, I’ve added the location on the map, so that in case you couldn’t crack the puzzle, you can just try and find the place on the map, and then search that place for the image shown under the puzzle. This is still better and fun that to be guided to it.
I didn’t want it to be so easy. I tried to make this mod’s difficulty moderate, and that’s why I’ve accompanied the puzzles with a map location.
In the end, some puzzles may sound cheesy and cringy, I made them in a hurry so forgive me!
