Unicorn Mounts of Skyrim LE

Adds 9 different unicorns (3 models with color variants) for your dragonborn to ride around like they own the place!

DESCRIPTION
This mod adds 9 summonable, rideable unicorn mounts for your dragonborn to play with. Each summon is (for all intents and purposes) permanent, but will be dispelled when you summon a new unicorn. Each spell costs 0 magicka to use and doesn’t require any conjuration knowledge.

As of 1.2, there are versions of the summons physically placed in the world. This is to help people take full advantage of horse management mods. Also good for non-magickally-oriented characters. I kept the summons to make updating easier on current users, so they don’t have to go dispelling things before updating, and also if you’re so inclined, there are uses for them that the “regular” mounts don’t have (author not responsible for any broken vases in the Blue Palace).

The available mounts are as follows:

Classic Unicorns – These are bareback, plain-jane unicorns. They’re more “questionable Medieval artist” in their face than a real horse (which is why I like them, personally, although I can see where other people might not dig it), and they’re more substantial in build.

Aeron: Lavender, purply, stormy colored
Artax: Grey
Caletos: Palomino
Sirona: White

Battle Unicorns – These are armored unicorns with multicolored manes and tails. Slimmer than the classic ones, but also more fantastical.

Iridium: White
Ondine: Purple
Phaeton: Black

Bighorn Unicorns – These are the more “realistic” ones. Very slim with a large, stylized horn that reminds me of a Yoshitaka Amano drawing. They have more detailed, 4k textures.

Shadowfax: Silvery white
Scandalon: Black, comes in two forms: armored and unarmored. He belongs to my Thalmor officer character, hence the special treatment. His armor is cobbled together from Elven stuff, and will reflect any texture replacers you may be using (the ones in the screenshot are aMidianBorn’s).

OBTAINING
The spellbooks for these mounts are in different locations, but they are free to take once you find them. There are some pics above that show what to look for, but without a lot of detail (the first two should be easy to guess, honestly), but here’s specifics, spoilered in case you like being surprised. The bighorn ones are bit more “difficult” to find, but not by much. I just like them more. lol

Classic: Strongbox just inside the Winterhold College courtyard entrance (student transportation, you know)
Battle: Strongbox on the porch of the Hall of the Dead in Falkreath
Shadowfax: Book in Eldergleam Sanctuary at the foot of the Eldergleam itself.
Scandalon (both armored and unarmored): Books in an upstairs bedroom in the Thalmor Embassy (the building you start in when Malborn ushers you through the kitchen)

If you think all that’s BS or you’ve already done the main quest preventing you from obtaining that one, AddItemMenu is a great thing!

Finding the Mounts in the World
Shadowfax and Scandalon aren’t quite as difficult to find, this way, but the running I think makes up for it ;P

Artax: Nearby the Apprentice Stone
Aeron: At Angi’s Camp
Caletos: By a shrine to Dibella on the road to Markarth
Sirona: By Mara’s Eye Pond
Iridium: Outside High Hrothgar
Phaeton: By Forelhost
Ondine: Outside Yngvild Barrow
Shadowfax: By the Steed Stone
Scandalon: Outside the Thalmor Embassy

REQUIREMENTS
A legal copy of Skyrim, ya mook!

NOTES
The speed patches affect only these mounts. If you use a mod that alters the speed of the vanilla horse race, the effects will stack. So beware installing the 80% patch if you have Convenient Horses boosted to 80% already or have 3/3 perks in “Ludicrous Speed” in whatever perk mod you use!

The mounts you find in the world will be compatible with whatever horse management mod you happen to use. The summons will only be partially compatible, and generally will only reflect changes made to the vanilla horse race made by whichever mod you’re using.
These models come from different people with different visions and were created with different purposes in mind. The classic and battle unicorn models were intended for MMO-style games where memory conservation is important, hence they came packaged with compressed 512 textures. I’m not good enough to make them look any better (I tried lol). If you don’t like them, that’s okay. Everyone’s tolerance for quality is different.
I’m probably not going to take suggestions, but if you have one that’s like super good, feel free to make it. Obviously if there’s a bug or something, I’ll try to fix it.
